Data Brokers Opt Out: The Complete Opt-Out List

Below is every major data broker we track, what it publishes about you, how hard its opt-out is, how long the removal takes, and a direct link to the real form. All 44 of them. No email required, no signup, no affiliate links. If you work through this list you will have done, by hand, most of what a paid data removal service does for you.

Two pieces of advice before you start. Work top to bottom: the list is ordered so the highest-harm, lowest-effort removals come first. And do not skip the last section, because the marketing aggregators are what refill the rest.

Before you file: use your state's law

Twenty US states now have a comprehensive privacy law in effect, and each gives residents an enforceable right to deletion. Mentioning your state's statute in an opt-out request moves it from a support queue to a compliance queue, and the difference in response time is real.

Californians should start somewhere else entirely. The Delete Act created DROP, a state-run platform where one request reaches every registered data broker, of which there are over 600. Registered brokers must check it at least every 45 days and process deletion requests from 1 August 2026, at a penalty of $200 per day per ignored request. One form beats forty. Use it, then come back to this list for the brokers that are not registered.

How to read the difficulty column

• Easy: a web form, done in a few minutes, sometimes with an email confirmation link.
• Medium: a form plus a phone verification, an account, or a search-and-claim step.
• Hard: a mailed or faxed form, a notarised ID, or a multi-week manual review.

"Removal wait" is the time between a correctly filed request and the listing actually disappearing, as the broker states it and as we have observed it. It is not a promise anyone makes to you.

Note the shared portals. Intelius, TruthFinder, Instant Checkmate, US Search, and ZabaSearch are all PeopleConnect brands and route through one suppression portal, so handle them in a single session. BeenVerified, PeopleLooker, NeighborWho, and Ownerly share data but not opt-outs: each needs its own request.

They never publish a page about you. They supply the companies that do. Slowest to act on, most important to the durability of everything else.

Nothing visible happens when these succeed, which is why almost nobody files them. They are also the reason your people-search listings come back. Acxiom alone feeds a meaningful share of the sites in the first table. Read the Acxiom guide and set aside six weeks of patience.

What to do when a broker ignores you

They do ignore people. In order of escalation:

1. Re-file, and this time name your state privacy statute in the free-text field. See the FAQ for which law applies where.
2. Email their privacy address directly, citing the date of your original request. Keep it short and dated.
3. Complain to your state attorney general. In states with a comprehensive privacy law, they enforce it.
4. If you are in California and the broker is registered, file through DROP. From 1 August 2026 ignoring it costs them $200 a day per request.

Then put it in your calendar

Here is the part that makes this list less useful than it looks. Every broker above regenerates listings from fresh public records. A deed, a voter file update, a change of address, a marketing file bought from an aggregator: any of them produces a new listing at a new URL, and your earlier opt-out has nothing to do with it. There is no permanent suppression list.

So finishing this list is not the end of the job. Re-run it quarterly at minimum, monthly if your exposure matters. Start the next pass with the exposure scan to see what your name returns now, then work down this page again.
