TruthFinder Opt Out: Remove Your Info From TruthFinder

The short answer

To opt out of TruthFinder, go to the PeopleConnect Suppression Center at suppression.peopleconnect.us, verify your email, confirm your identity, find your record, and set it to Suppressed. TruthFinder is a PeopleConnect brand, so the same request also removes you from Intelius, US Search, Instant Checkmate, and Classmates. Allow 7 to 14 days.

This guide is free and complete. Follow it and you will be removed from TruthFinder without paying anyone, including us. If you would rather not do this 43 more times, that is what Dataremoval is for.

What is exposed

What TruthFinder publishes about you

Name, address history, phone numbers, relatives, and background report teasers.

Every one of those fields is removable through the steps below, and every one can reappear later when TruthFinder ingests a new public record that matches your name.

Background-check sites usually publish a phone number alongside the address, which is what turns into cold calls, so removing your phone number from the internet is often the next job. If the report is already showing up in search results, the Google personal information removal route handles the cached copy.

The trap

TruthFinder buries the opt-out behind a chain of footer links and pushes "suppression" rather than deletion. Both remove you from search results, but the standalone URLs a lot of guides point at just redirect, so people give up thinking there is no way out. The PeopleConnect portal is the way out.

The method

TruthFinder opt-out, step by step

Medium. There is no one-click form on the TruthFinder site itself, and you have to verify your identity in the portal.

  1. 01 Open the PeopleConnect Suppression Center

TruthFinder does not process removals on truthfinder.com. From the TruthFinder footer, open "Exercise My Data Privacy Rights", then "View Public Data Tools", then "Manage My Suppression Rules". That link lands on the PeopleConnect Suppression Center at suppression.peopleconnect.us, which is the only route that works.

  2. 02 Verify your email

Enter an email you can open right now, accept the terms, and click Continue. PeopleConnect sends a verification email within a minute or two. Click Verify Email in it before you can go further.

  3. 03 Confirm your identity

Enter your date of birth and full legal name, then pick your record from the list the portal shows. PeopleConnect confirms identity with a code sent to a phone number listed on your record, so have that phone handy.

  4. 04 Set the record to Suppressed

In the Desired Behavior drop-down, choose Suppressed, then click Save. PeopleConnect pushes suppression over deletion, and for keeping your data off the site it is the setting that sticks.

  5. 05 One request covers the whole family, then re-check

The same suppression covers Intelius, US Search, Instant Checkmate, and Classmates, because they share the data. Allow 7 to 14 days, then search your name again: TruthFinder re-ingests public records, and a new source record can bring a fresh listing back.

And then the other 43

TruthFinder is one of them

The same address you just removed from TruthFinder is still published by the other brokers in our directory, and by the marketing aggregators that supply all of them. Removing one is a good afternoon. Removing all of them, and keeping them removed as they refill, is a different kind of job.

Dataremoval files every opt-out for you and re-scans monthly. It is in early access, so joining the list costs nothing and there is nothing to buy. If you are shopping around first, we compare the field in the best data removal services and put the real numbers side by side in how much data removal costs.

Questions

TruthFinder opt-out questions, answered

How do I remove myself from TruthFinder?

Not through truthfinder.com. Go to the PeopleConnect Suppression Center at suppression.peopleconnect.us, verify an email address, enter your legal name and date of birth, then set every record that is yours to Suppressed. TruthFinder is a PeopleConnect brand, and the portal is the only working route.

How long does TruthFinder take to remove your information?

The listing normally drops within about 72 hours of the request saving, and you should allow up to 10 business days for it to propagate across every PeopleConnect property. Nothing happens until you click the email verification link. If your record is still live two weeks later, the likeliest explanation is that it was never claimed in the portal.

Does opting out of TruthFinder also remove Intelius and Instant Checkmate?

Yes, if you filed through the suppression center. One verified request reaches every PeopleConnect brand holding a record you claimed, which includes Intelius, Instant Checkmate, US Search and ZabaSearch. That is the entire reason to use the portal rather than hunting for a TruthFinder-specific form that does not exist.

Can a data removal service opt me out of TruthFinder?

Usually not on your behalf. DeleteMe's own help documentation states that PeopleConnect does not honor opt-out requests submitted for a customer, even with a signed authorization form, and asks customers to file it themselves. Optery handles PeopleConnect under Custom Removals rather than its standard roster. This is one of the few opt-outs where doing it yourself is not optional.

Is the TruthFinder opt out free?

Yes. Creating the suppression account and filing the request costs nothing, and there is no paid tier that removes you faster. Note that a TruthFinder subscription and a TruthFinder suppression are unrelated: cancelling a paid membership does nothing about a listing published about you.

Does TruthFinder come back after suppression?

Commonly within 6 to 12 months. Suppression hides the record you claimed; it does not stop PeopleConnect buying the court filings, property records, and marketing data that build these profiles. A new address or a fresh public record can generate a record your earlier request never covered, so re-check quarterly.
