BeenVerified Opt Out: Remove Your Personal Information

The short answer

To opt out of BeenVerified, go to beenverified.com/app/optout/search, search your name, select the record that is yours, enter your email address, and click the verification link BeenVerified sends. Most records are suppressed within 24 hours, though the company allows itself up to seven days.

This guide is free and complete. Follow it and you will be removed from BeenVerified without paying anyone, including us. If you would rather not do this 44 more times, that is what Dataremoval is for.

Steps checked against BeenVerified's own opt-out flow. We take no commission from BeenVerified or from any service named on this page.

Scanning

See what the internet returns for your name, live, and get your removal plan.

Your name is used for this one search and is never stored, logged, or added to any list. The scan does not create an account.

Searching the public web

This runs a real search, so it can take up to about 45 seconds. Nothing is stored.

No broker listing ranked today. That is not the same as being private: search engines demote people-search pages, and the brokers still publish to anyone who searches them directly.

The live top results for your name, reconstructed from public search. The "data broker" badge is matched against our own directory of 45 brokers.

These brokers index US adults and each opt-out link is real and free. We have not checked each one for your name, and we will not pretend otherwise. That is what the full service does.

The live search did not come back this time, so we will not guess. Here is your removal plan instead, from our directory of 45 real data brokers.

You have used your scans for now. The demo runs on a shared key, so we cap it. The real service re-scans for you every month without a cap.

What is exposed

What BeenVerified publishes about you

Name, aliases, age, address history, phone numbers, emails, relatives, and pointers to court and property records.

Every one of those fields is removable through the steps below, and every one can reappear later when BeenVerified ingests a new public record that matches your name.

Background-check sites usually publish a phone number alongside the address, which is what turns into cold calls, so removing your phone number from the internet is often the next job. If the report is already showing up in search results, the Google personal information removal route handles the cached copy.

The trap

The BeenVerified opt-out is genuinely quick, which is exactly why people stop there. PeopleLooker, NeighborWho, and Ownerly keep publishing the same address history until you opt out of each separately.

The method

BeenVerified opt-out, step by step

Easy for BeenVerified itself. The catch is the three sister sites.

  1. 01 Open the opt-out search

Go to beenverified.com/app/optout/search. You do not need to find your public listing first: the opt-out tool has its own search.

  2. 02 Find the record that is yours

Search your first and last name, then narrow by state. Match on age and city. Do not select a record that is not you, because you are asserting it is yours.

  3. 03 Enter your email address

BeenVerified asks for an email to send the verification link to. It does not need to match anything in the record.

  4. 04 Click the verification link

Open the email and click through. BeenVerified confirms the opt-out on screen. Records normally disappear within 24 hours.

  5. 05 Now do the sister sites

BeenVerified operates PeopleLooker, NeighborWho, and Ownerly on the same underlying data. Each one has its own opt-out and none of them honor the BeenVerified request. Removing only BeenVerified leaves your address on three other sites.

Steps written against BeenVerified's live flow in July 2026. Brokers move their forms without notice. If a step has moved, start from their opt-out page and the shape of the process will be the same. Tell us if it has changed: app@dataremoval.ai.

And then the other 44

BeenVerified is one of them

The same address you just removed from BeenVerified is still published by the other brokers in our directory, and by the marketing aggregators that supply all of them. Removing one is a good afternoon. Removing all of them, and keeping them removed as they refill, is a different kind of job.

Dataremoval files every opt-out for you and re-scans monthly. If you are shopping around first, we compare the field in the best data removal services and put the real numbers side by side in how much data removal costs.

Questions

BeenVerified opt-out questions, answered

How long does BeenVerified take to remove your information?

Most BeenVerified records disappear within 24 hours of you clicking the verification link, and the company reserves up to seven days. The clock starts at the click, not at the form submission. If the listing is still live after a week, the usual cause is a verification email sitting unopened in a spam folder, so check there before refiling.

Does opting out of BeenVerified remove me from PeopleLooker and NeighborWho?

Do not count on it. BeenVerified owns PeopleLooker, NeighborWho and Ownerly, and published guidance conflicts on how far one request carries: some sources report the removal propagating, others state each property keeps its own opt-out. The reliable move is to search your name on all three afterwards and run whichever process a site still needs. It takes five minutes and removes the guesswork.

Do I need an account or a photo ID to opt out of BeenVerified?

No. The opt-out at beenverified.com/app/optout/search asks for a name search, the record you are claiming, and an email address for the verification link. There is no account to create, no payment method, and no government ID. If a page is asking you for a document scan to delist from BeenVerified, you are not on the real opt-out.

Why do I have more than one BeenVerified listing?

BeenVerified builds a separate record for each combination of name variant and address it holds. A middle initial, a maiden name, a hyphenated surname or an apartment you left years ago each produce their own profile. Search with and without the middle initial, and across every state you have lived in, before deciding the job is done.

Does BeenVerified come back after you opt out?

Usually within a few months. The opt-out suppresses the record you claimed; it does not stop BeenVerified ingesting the county filings, voter files and marketing data that built it. A move, a property purchase or a vehicle registration generates a new record your earlier request never covered. Search yourself quarterly and expect to refile.

My BeenVerified listing is gone but still shows in Google. Why?

Because Google has not recrawled the dead URL yet. The page is gone; the search result is a stale index entry, and it clears on its own in anything from a few days to two months. You can speed that up with Google's Refresh Outdated Content tool, and the Google Results about you tool handles anything still exposing your address or phone.
