Name, age, current and past home addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, relatives, and social profiles.

Every one of those fields is removable through the steps below, and every one can reappear later when Spokeo ingests a new public record that matches your name.

Because the same address is usually published with a phone number, plenty of people follow this with removing their phone number from the internet. If the listing is also surfacing in search results, the Google personal information removal request is the separate step that clears the cached page.

The trap

Spokeo will not remove a listing you have not given it the URL for. People opt out once, see the record they found disappear, and never notice the three other listings still live under a previous address.

The method

Spokeo opt-out, step by step

Easy, but Spokeo often holds several listings for one person, and each needs its own request.

01 Find every listing that is you

Search your name on spokeo.com and add your city or state. Spokeo commonly holds more than one record for the same person, often under an old address or a middle initial. Open each result that is genuinely you and keep the browser tabs open.
02 Copy the listing URL

On each listing page, copy the full URL from the address bar. It looks like spokeo.com/Firstname-Lastname/State/City/p1. Spokeo will not accept a name; it removes one URL at a time.
03 Submit the opt-out form

Go to spokeo.com/optout. Paste the listing URL, enter an email address you can access, and complete the CAPTCHA. Use an email you keep, not a throwaway, because you have to click the link it sends.
04 Confirm from your inbox

Spokeo sends a confirmation email within a few minutes. Click the link in it. The request does nothing until you do. Check your spam folder if it has not arrived in ten minutes.
05 Repeat, then re-check in a month

Do the same for every listing URL. Then note a reminder to search yourself again in about 30 days: Spokeo re-ingests public records continuously, and listings do come back when a new record ties your name to an address.

How long does Spokeo take to remove your information?

Spokeo commits to processing a confirmed opt-out within 72 hours, and in practice most listings drop within 24 to 48 hours. The clock does not start when you submit the form, it starts when you click the link in the confirmation email. If a listing is still up after three days, an unclicked confirmation sitting in a spam folder is the first thing to check.

Does the Spokeo opt out actually work?

Yes, when it is filed correctly. There are only two common failure modes. The first is never clicking the confirmation email, which leaves the request unprocessed. The second is having several listings and removing only the one you happened to find. Spokeo removes the specific URL you submitted, not you as a person.

Why do I have more than one Spokeo listing?

Spokeo builds a separate profile for each combination of name variant, address, and source feed it holds. A middle initial, a maiden name, or an apartment you left in 2019 each produce their own record with their own URL. Search your name with and without a middle initial, and across every state you have lived in, before you assume you are done.

Does Spokeo come back after you opt out?

Commonly within 30 to 90 days. Spokeo keeps ingesting public records, marketing databases, and social profiles, and any new record tying your name to an address can generate a fresh listing that your earlier opt-out never covered. Moving, buying property, or registering a vehicle brings it back fastest. Plan to search yourself quarterly.

Does opting out of Spokeo remove me from Google?

No. Removing the Spokeo page and clearing the Google result are two separate jobs. Google has to recrawl the dead URL before the search result disappears, which can take anywhere from a couple of days to two months. Is the Spokeo opt out free?

Yes. Spokeo charges nothing to opt out and does not require an account or a payment method. The form asks only for a listing URL and an email address. Anyone charging you a fee to file a Spokeo removal is charging for the labor of doing it, which is a legitimate service but is not something Spokeo requires.
