Name, age, address history, phone numbers, relatives, and criminal-record report pointers.

Every one of those fields is removable through the steps below, and every one can reappear later when Instant Checkmate ingests a new public record that matches your name.

Background-check sites usually publish a phone number alongside the address, which is what turns into cold calls, so removing your phone number from the internet is often the next job. The method

Instant Checkmate opt-out, step by step

Medium, but it is the best-value opt-out on the list: the same ten minutes clears four background-check sites at once, because they share one back end.

  1. 01 Use the suppression center, not just the opt-out page

    Instant Checkmate has its own form at instantcheckmate.com/opt-out, and it works. The problem is scope. Instant Checkmate is owned by PeopleConnect, which also runs TruthFinder, Intelius, and US Search on the same data. The central portal at suppression.peopleconnect.us is the one that reaches the whole family, so start there instead.

  2. 02 Enter your email and continue

    Open suppression.peopleconnect.us, enter an email address you can open, agree to the terms, and continue. You can also reach this portal from the suppression or Do Not Sell link inside the Instant Checkmate privacy center, which is the long way round to the same page.

  3. 03 Verify your email

    PeopleConnect sends a verification email. Click the link in it. As with every broker on this site, the request does nothing until you confirm, and the confirmation is the step that gets skipped.

  4. 04 Confirm your date of birth and legal name

    Enter your date of birth, tick the verification box, and continue. Then enter your full legal name and confirm it is your legal name. PeopleConnect matches on name plus date of birth, so a nickname or a maiden name will not find the record you are looking at.

  5. 05 Set the record to Suppressed

    Find your record, open the Desired Behavior dropdown, choose Suppressed, and save. Suppressed is the setting that takes it out of the search results. Do this for every record that is yours, including any under a previous address.

  6. 06 Check it in a private window

    Give it a few days, then search Instant Checkmate again in a private browser window so you are not looking at a cached copy of your own listing. While you are there, check TruthFinder, Intelius, and US Search too, and confirm the suppression carried across all four. If a record survived, it is almost always because the email verification expired before it was clicked.

How long does an Instant Checkmate opt out take?

Allow 7 to 14 days for the suppression to propagate across the PeopleConnect brands. The portal shows the rule immediately once saved, but the public-facing sites take longer to reflect it. Search results caching adds further delay on top of that.

Why does Instant Checkmate ask for my date of birth to remove me?

To match you to the right record, because name alone is ambiguous across a database of this size. It is a genuine friction point: you are handing more identifying data to a broker in order to be removed. The information goes into the suppression rule rather than a public profile, and there is no way to complete the process without it.

Does opting out of Instant Checkmate remove me from TruthFinder?

Yes, if you file through the PeopleConnect Suppression Center rather than any brand-specific form. That is the entire advantage of this route. Filing at one brand and stopping is the common mistake, and it leaves you published on the sister sites running the same underlying data. Is Instant Checkmate removal permanent?

A suppression rule is more durable than a one-off listing deletion, because it is meant to hold against new records rather than remove a single page. It is still not permanent. PeopleConnect keeps ingesting public records, rules can lapse against a materially different record, and a new address can produce a new match. Recheck a couple of times a year.
