The short answer

Costco Complete ID, the Experian identity protection plan sold only to Costco members, stopped accepting new enrollments at least as far back as November 2023 and is still closed. Current members keep it at about $8.99 a month. New buyers need a replacement, and the closest is Aura at $144 a year, with three-bureau credit monitoring and removal from 425 or more sites.

Which Costco Complete ID reader are you

Almost everyone searching for Complete ID now is in one of two spots, and the right move is opposite in each.

You already have it

Keep it. You cannot get it back.

At the reported $8.99 a month for an Executive member, Complete ID is cheaper than every open plan with three-bureau credit monitoring. Cancelling is one-way, and if you started a two-adult plan, cancelling ends your partner’s account as well. What it does less well is removal: 80 or so people finder sites, with some removals handed back to you.

Add a removal service beside it if the scan finds you on sites it misses.

You tried to enroll

Pay retail, and pick by what you need removed.

There is no Costco member rate on any replacement we could find. Aura Individual at $144 a year is the nearest like-for-like. If what pushed you toward Complete ID was your address showing up on people-search sites, a dedicated removal service covers far more of them than any suite does.

The comparison below prices seven open options for one adult.

Costco Complete ID cost

What a Costco Complete ID membership includes and costs

Complete ID comes in four shapes: one adult, one adult plus up to five children, two adults, and two adults plus up to five children. Every adult on a plan has to be an active Costco member at the same membership level, and the adult who starts the plan pays for all of it.

The live site no longer shows the adult price, since nobody new can buy it. Review sites that tested the service report $8.99 a month per adult for Executive members and $13.99 for Gold Star and Business members. That works out to about $107.88 or $167.88 a year. Complete ID still lists its child monitoring add-on: $2.99 a month for Executive members and $3.99 for Gold Star and Business members, covering up to five children under 18. Prices are subject to sales tax.

Experian runs the service. Monitoring with Experian begins within 48 hours of enrollment, and with Equifax and TransUnion in about four days. For comparison, Experian’s own retail product, IdentityWorks Premium, costs $24.99 a month. We reviewed Experian’s free people-search scan in our Experian Personal Privacy Scan review.

Costco Complete ID review

Does Costco Complete ID remove your data from people finder sites?

Partly, and hardly any review mentions it. Complete ID added a tool called Digital Identity Manager. You start a scan from your account, it checks “over 80 different people finder sites”, and emails you the results. For each match, Complete ID says it will “either remove it from that site on your behalf or guide you through the removal process”. It rescans every 90 days.

Three limits follow from that wording. The roster is small: dedicated services cover a few hundred brokers, and even Aura lists 425 or more sites. Some removals are guided, meaning you fill in the opt-out form, and Complete ID does not say which sites fall into which group. And 90 days between scans is long enough for a broker to relist you and sell the listing again before anyone notices.

None of that makes it a bad plan for a current member. It makes it a monitoring plan with a light removal feature, which is worth knowing before you assume your address is off the internet.

When Costco Complete ID closed to new members

Neither Costco nor Experian announced a date. The public record is the enrollment notice itself, and it has not changed in almost three years.

  1. November 2023

    Earliest archived notice

The Complete ID features page, as archived by the Internet Archive, already says it is no longer accepting new enrollments.

  2. June 2024

    Costco carries the same message

Costco’s identity protection page tells members that current enrollees keep their service “for the same great price”.

  3. 30 September 2026

    Still closed

The live enrollment portal returns the same notice. Member login, the app and cancellation still work.

What replacing Costco Complete ID costs for one adult

The honest headline for current members: nothing open matches the member rate. The cheapest open plan with three-bureau credit monitoring is Aura at $144, about $36 a year more. For new buyers, the table shows who removes you from brokers at all, since three of these suites do not.

Costco Complete ID compared with LifeLock, IDX, Aura, Allstate and Identity Guard on yearly price for one adult, broker removal, credit monitoring and availability

Closest like-for-like

Aura Individual, $144 a year

Three bureaus, $1 million in insurance, VPN and password manager like Complete ID, and removal from 425 or more sites, five times the Complete ID roster. Details in our Aura data removal review.

Cheapest open suite

LifeLock Core, $124.99 a year

Two bureaus, and a light broker removal feature about every 90 days with no published site count. See what it actually covers in LifeLock data broker removal.

Watch the fine print

Allstate and Identity Guard

Both give you three bureaus for about $190 to $200, and neither removes you from a single data broker on the plans you can buy. Our Identity Guard review shows the renewal jump too.

How to replace Costco identity theft protection without paying for overlap

Complete ID bundled three jobs: credit monitoring, recovery help, and a small amount of people-search removal. You do not have to buy all three from one company, and splitting them is often cheaper.

  1. 1

Freeze your credit at all three bureaus

A security freeze at Experian, Equifax and TransUnion is free by federal law and blocks new accounts more firmly than monitoring does. Lift it for a day when you apply for credit.

  2. 2

Decide whether you still want alerts

If you want three-bureau alerts, restoration and insurance in one bill, Aura at $144 is the closest to what Complete ID gave you. If a freeze is enough, skip the suite.

  3. 3

Run the scan at the top of this page

It shows which people-search sites publish your name, address and phone today. That list, not a brand name, tells you how much removal you need.

  4. 4

Match the removal to the list

If the scan finds a handful of sites, filing the opt-outs yourself is realistic. If it finds dozens, a removal service with monthly rescans and a dated log saves the repeat work.

For the do-it-yourself route, our data broker opt-out list has the forms for the large sites. Most people give up after about ten, because every broker verifies you differently and many relist you within a few months. That repeat work is the part a removal service is for.

Is Costco Complete ID worth keeping? Match the choice to your situation

Current member, happy with alerts

Keep Complete ID

No open plan gives three bureaus and $1 million in cover for the member rate, and you cannot rejoin once you leave.

Current member, still findable online

Keep it and add removal

Complete ID covers about 80 people finder sites. A removal service picks up the rest without duplicating the credit side.

New buyer, wants the same bundle

Aura Individual, $144 a year

Three bureaus, insurance, VPN and removal from 425 or more sites in one bill.

New buyer, household of two

Aura Couple, $264 a year

Two adults with three-bureau monitoring and removal, $2 million in combined insurance.

Wants the lowest suite price

LifeLock Core, $124.99 a year

Two bureaus, some broker removal every 90 days, and a 60-day refund on annual plans.

Wants a person on the stubborn brokers

DataRemoval, from $24 a month billed yearly

Our own plan: a human works the brokers that reject automated requests, we rescan monthly, and you get a dated log of every request. It sits beside Complete ID or a free credit freeze without overlap.

Our view, as a company that sells the removal half: Complete ID was one of the best deals in identity protection, and members who still have it should hold on to it. Its weak spot was always the people-search side, a short roster with part of the work left to you. If you are choosing what to add or what to buy instead, our ranking of the best data removal services prices the whole field, and our pricing page lists our plans next to it.

Costco Complete ID reviews and common questions

Is Costco Complete ID still available?

Not to new members. The Complete ID enrollment page says "Unfortunately, we are no longer accepting new enrollments", and it has said so since at least November 2023. Existing members keep their service at the same price, can still log in, and can still add a second adult or children through the family plan options.

How much is Costco Complete ID?

Review sites report $8.99 a month per adult for Costco Executive members and $13.99 for Gold Star and Business members, about $107.88 or $167.88 a year. Child monitoring for up to five children adds $2.99 or $3.99 a month, according to Complete ID. The live site no longer prints the adult price because nobody new can buy it.

Does Costco still offer identity theft protection?

Not to anyone joining now. Costco's program was Complete ID, run by Experian, and its identity protection page carried the same "no longer accepting new enrollments" notice in 2024. We found no replacement plan with a Costco member rate, so a new buyer pays retail with another provider such as Aura, LifeLock or IDX.

Does Costco Complete ID remove your information from data brokers?

Partly. Its Digital Identity Manager scans over 80 people finder sites, then either removes a match on your behalf or guides you through the removal yourself, and rescans every 90 days. That is a smaller roster than dedicated removal services, and Complete ID does not say which sites get automatic removal and which are left to you.

Is Costco Complete ID worth it?

If you already have it, yes. About $107.88 a year for an Executive member buys three-bureau credit monitoring, $1 million in insurance, a VPN and a people-finder tool, which is less than any open rival with the same credit coverage. Because enrollment is closed, cancelling is permanent, so think twice before you drop it.

What is the best alternative to Costco Complete ID?

Aura Individual at $144 a year is the closest match: three-bureau credit monitoring, $1 million in insurance and removal from 425 or more sites. If you want the cheapest suite, LifeLock Core costs $124.99 with two bureaus. If you only want your address off people-search sites, a dedicated removal service does that part without the credit bundle.

Is Complete ID the same as Experian?

Complete ID is an Experian product. Its pages say "Service provided by Experian", monitoring with Experian starts within 48 hours of enrollment, and the credit lock is Experian CreditLock. Experian's own retail plan, IdentityWorks Premium, costs $24.99 a month, which is much more than the Costco member rate.

Which is better, LifeLock or Costco Complete ID?

For a current member, Complete ID is the better value: three bureaus for about $107.88 a year against $124.99 for LifeLock Core with two. For a new buyer the question is moot because Complete ID is closed. LifeLock Core includes some broker removal about every 90 days and a 60-day refund on annual plans.

How do I cancel Costco Complete ID?

You can cancel Complete ID online in your account or by calling 1-855-591-0202. If you are the adult who started a two-adult plan, cancelling also cancels the second adult's account, according to the Complete ID FAQ. Since new enrollments are closed, neither of you can rejoin later.

Does Costco offer Identity Guard?

Not today. Costco's identity program was Complete ID, and it is closed to new members. Identity Guard sells directly from $90 for the first year, and the plan page we read in September 2026 lists no Costco member price. None of Identity Guard's plans removes you from data brokers.

Complete ID closed. Your listings did not.
